Rage of Ages......!

The recent showcase of barbarity in Mangalore is about the first few of the many more to come. You can be pretty sure about that, in all its likelihood. Probably a different place, obviously a different set of women as prey. We are not going to be able to stop this anytime soon. However what is interesting to note is this 'Sri Ram Sene' now has company..... Halleleujah ! some fundamentalist and radicalist kith and kin is what they need, to harness to their already burgeoning size as well as impact. Their country cousins go by the name of 'Bajrang Dal' (BD) mission-: To oppose religious conversions and Hindu Janajagruti Samithi (HJS) motto _: To oppose denigration of hindu gods in any form. These pseudo ideological parts seem to revel at singling out and targetting the fairer sex under the pretext of 'preservation of culture'. Soon there will be the Xenophobic Nerdic Samaj (XNS) or a (%$#@) samaj that 'deals' with women wanting to earn their living on their own, the argument who go like " Woman have always been dependent on their husbands and this 'tradition' is to be preserved. Inclination to wear 'western outfits has already been looked upon as 'laying ourselves bare' for the men to see.

We thus have the Bajrang Dal targetting fashion shows, that go tangent to Indian tradition, BLEH??? Soon they are going to be telling us that there is a separate constitution for men and a slightly bulkier one for women, Bulky because the 'clauses for conduct' is going to take up the pages.
Probably a century back, this piece of news would have sounded saner to the ears, for women wanting to do something merely to entertain herself, was unheard of, the saga began where women were Objects to be protected, since she was considered 'essentially wild' in nature, first by her progenitor and then by her husband. These were 'MEN' again, protectors of her hymen, and taming her. with the age of industrialisation, however, focus shifted from women, family, due tot he high rates of breaking up of the family system and also high rates of divorces, this was the time for 'liberalisation' of this 'wild woman' and it has been so since then. Until now. Just when we accept the new found independence, bourne by the fruits of self decision-making, we have cock-screws drilling into our heads, and a whole breath of body-politic out there mocking us, pushing us, assaulting us, and raping us.
Coming back to fashion shows, arent they unisexual? and who is going tot ell them this... if they dont knwo this already? then why werent men beaten too?
these are merely rhetorical questions. On discussing this issue with a close friend, she suggested the concept of 'hitting back' forming 'woman gangs' which works as an undercurrent moral policing instruments, on similar lines of our male (goonda) counterparts. Is this going to help. A revolution probably? (are you listening Mr Marx?). But until that happens, I wonder what, where and who are going to keep these ideological fanatics busy.
